1872 McClellan Saddle
During the Civil War it seems that adaptations to saddles were made on a regular basis. On June 29, 1872 a general order from the War Department ordered a change in the McClellan Saddle. This new version included "D" rings on quarter straps, stirrup treads widened to double the original width and skirts removed. Also a wider dark linen web girth was added.
In an effort to be authentic to the era, Ben has created this new 1872 McClellan Saddle. All of the adaptations mentioned above have been authenticated as best as possible. This saddle is made from 100% genuine leather. Girth is leather covered with blue denim. Stirrup leathers are fully adjustable. This saddle also features a bedroll. Chafe guards are on both the stirrup leathers and "D" ring.
Available in black or brown.
